After using software to file taxes I had a question about return. Their system would not let me stay on hold yesterday and today I was on hold for 4 hours straight and never did talk with a representative. Their on hold music is very annoying.
My husband went in to their office and had to school the tax prep girl on how to fill file it! She had no knowledge at all. Not to mention they were so extremely loud to wear he could barely hear her. And he actually booked a appt for me without my permission I I waited 45 minutes with a appt to be told it would be another 30 minutes before they could get to me
Why! Would I wait and fork out in over 300 in feses when my return is less than 100. Have u lost ur damn mind?

Original tax prep estimate went from $250.00 $350 when finished. They had all the forms and statements prior to giving me a binding estimate as it turns out it cost me $100 more an ESTIMATED. I complain to management I asked for the hundred be refunded they told me they would get back to me I never did they are also Liars and cheats... BEWARE
I never felt so disrespected to have given some the maxinun amount of money and even more money the lady never showed did not apologize made me lose my loan I'm for sure hr block will never get my business again to many errors at important time.
I received an email setting an appointment for me to have my taxes prepared by H&R Block. I accepted the appointment, only to be contacted and told that the preparer needed to change my appointment. I then set another appointment and was again contacted to change time and date. Finally, I set an appointment via hrblock.com to go to my local office on a certain date and time. HRB sent me a text message confirming the place/date/time of my appointment, but when I arrived as scheduled, the office was permanently closed! I had to waste even more time travelling to another office, and even then could not get an in-person appointment. They offered to fax my documents to some preparer in some office who would hopefully get the returns prepared in time. No discount or consideration was offered to compensate for my time/inconvenience. Worst part is, I found out that the office at which I ha scheduled had actually been closed BEFORE I made the online appointment! Yet no one called to let me know. Very disappointing!
H&R Block’s software seems to be slipping a little. I hope this is a blip. My biggest issue was having my efile repeatedly rejected by the IRS despite providing the correct 2019 AGI. Very frustrating. Had to print and mail, despite purchasing fore file purposes. Fortunately there are alternatives, and I have switched before...but, I would rather not, if they can improve.
Update: There are codes the IRS uses when they reject the return. My AGI was correct, but there is no indicator of an alternate reason for rejection. You can find the code on your rejection notification. The handful of codes could easily be provided by H&R Block to add value to their product and less frustration for the customer. Finding the issue and then sending in paper copies was a small but irritating exercise.
PSR Failure
That level of error message is what you get from this awful software. Then you get to call an automated support line, get directed to the wrong department, wait on hold for 2 hours before you find that out, then get transferred to a different department to wait on hold for another couple of hours.
PSR Failure means "your email has characters that are in the email standard, but that we do not accept because we're not good at writing validation code".
They scammed us out of money! They are rude, belligerent and absolutely awful! Be warned of Elaine Shore at the 725 River Road Edgewater NJ office. The office manager Glenn Bloom is also rude. Please take your business elsewhere
I have used H&R Block for the last 10 years, Never Again!! The previous two years the error alerts while filing no longer worked. This time after correcting it myself it filed the Federal return (accepted) and Refused to file the state return saying Kentucky does not accept Electronic tax payments. After talking to Ky Revenue Dept who told they do accept E payments I called H&R help, went through an hour of useless “robot chat” then another 1/2 hour on hold to get a real person who was very kind and worked on it for over an hour and told me I would have to print it & paper file a mail it with a check as the software would not work. Asking about a refund of the $44.99 Premium State tax file fee I paid they said since I had used it Even Though it DID NOT WORK I could not get a refund of the cost. The person did honestly try to help, I will give them credit for that. Done with H&R Block FOREVER!
Absolute worst experience. I will no longer be using HR Block... STAY AWAY!
I filed my taxes electronically and did direct deposit it's been 30 days and I still haven't received my taxes do not go through H&R Block I paid $450 plus the $60 for peace of mind and I still do not have my taxes

I have used the free version of H&R Block online for many years with no problem. This year (for tax year 2020) I needed a form that wasn't in their free edition so I had to "upgrade" to a paid version that cost around $50.00. Little did I know then that this $50 upgrade did NOT include state filing. For that I would have to pay an additional ~$50.
My state filing is very simple. So instead of paying $50 to H&R Block, I downloaded the state forms and filled them out manually. It took all of maybe 10 minutes at most.
In my opinion all the tax software programs should include at least one state filing for free.
Never again. Support is horrible. The last update blew up my tax return that was ready to file. Suddenly my income was not taxable and I am getting a $30,000 refund! Before I owed a bit. Two hours on the phone with "Chad" could not solve it. Now I am supposed to wait until the support team calls me back! It’s April 10. I restored the old program and had to re-enter all the data, more hours. And this is the second time I had to call support and that was horrible too.
Update, they never called me back.

Scam taking advantage of lower income Americans. They should be prosecuted as price gougers.
